Get an Edge on the Academic Competition With Virtualization.
With 25,000 students and 4,000 faculty and staff members, UNC-Charlotte needs a wide range of applications to keep things running smoothly. Because many of the university’s users employ different operating systems, they needed a cross-platform technology solution that would allow them to seamlessly deliver the same applications to everyone.
Findings
By virtualizing their technology environment with Citrix, UNC-Charlotte is now able to deliver the applications their students and faculty count on every day, without having to install those applications on every single desktop throughout the campus. That means students and university staff can access the data and applications they need from anywhere. Plus, because virtualization technology allows for instant upgrades, patches and refreshes on university computers, UNC-Charlotte has extended the life of each desktop, giving them the power to allocate excess computing funds to other areas of the school that need more resources.
